Pedro Neto sends Chelsea three-word message after Conference League triumph
by Hannah Pinnock · football.londonChelsea winger Pedro Neto has sent a three-word message following their 3-1 aggregate win over FC Copenhagen in the UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16.
Enzo Maresca's side narrowly scraped through the first leg in Denmark with a slender 2-1 lead courtesy of goals from Reece James and Enzo Fernandez. At Stamford Bridge on Thursday night, they secured their place in the quarter-finals as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal of the game in the second half to put the result beyond doubt.
Chelsea will now face Polish side Legia Warszawa in the last eight next month, with the second leg set to take place at Stamford Bridge. Should they progress, they will face either Djurgarden or SK Rapid Wien in the semi-finals before the final takes place at the Wrocław Stadium in Poland on May 28.
Taking to Instagram following Thursday's win, having played 90 minutes before he was substituted, Neto shared a message accompanied by a photo with his teammates: "Onto the next."
Chelsea are back in Premier League action this weekend with a trip to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. While Maresca's side are still battling it out for silverware in Europe, the priority remains qualifying for next season's Champions League.
They are currently fourth in the league standings, six points behind Sunday's opponents in second. Behind them, Manchester City are hot on Chelsea's heels in fifth, while all of Newcastle, Brighton, Aston Villa, Bournemouth and Fulham are in contention to finish in the top four.
Neto, 25, joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers last summer and he has scored five goals in his 33 appearances across all competitions so far this season. One of those came in the Conference League against KAA Gent in their first group stage game back in October.
