Gary Lineker drops major next role hint after Match of the Day exit as Sidemen clue spotted
by Josh Holland · football.londonFootball punditry favourites Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer have teased their involvement in this year's Sidemen charity football match.
Earlier this month, the YouTube group announced their popular charity fixture will be returning in March 2025 in front of 90,000 fans at Wembley Stadium. The last event was held in 2023 at West Ham United's London Stadium, raising £2.4million for charity.
The Sidemen, who have 21 million subscribers on their main YouTube channel and over 100 million between their individual channels. Fans were quick to snap up tickets for the event which sold out after just over three hours.
In 2023, a number of popular figures on social media were involved such as iShowSpeed, Kai Cenat, Chunkz, Danny Aarons, Mr Beast and Angry Ginge. No player announcements have been made as of yet but the Sidemen have teased one of their biggest coups yet.
On Instagram, a number of Sidemen members posted a story of themselves with '25.11' and '4pm', teasing an announcement this Monday afternoon. At the same time of the stories going live, Lineker, Richards and Shearer all posted an image of them with the same date and time, in the same font.
Lineker, Richards and Shearer are regulars on BBC's Match of the Day as well their popular 'Rest is Football' podcast. If the announcement is that the trio will be on punditry duty at Wembley in March, it would be the latest innovation produced by the YouTube group.
