Thomas Tuchel makes Myles Lewis-Skelly 'decision' as Arsenal star pushes for first England call-up
by Jack Flintham · football.londonArsenal full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly is reportedly in line for his first senior call-up for England as Thomas Tuchel prepares to announce his first squad for the Three Lions.
Lewis-Skelly has previously only played as high as England's U19s but according to The Mirror he is set to bypass the U20s Elite League and U21s to join the senior players at St George's Park. The 18-year-old has broken into the Arsenal first-team this season and has earned rave reviews for his performances.
Now, with England short of left-back cover due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Lewis Hall, Lewis-Skelly is set to get his chance. The full-back has made 25 senior appearances for Arsenal this season and scored his first goal for the senior team in February during the 5-1 thrashing of Manchester City.
Should he be included, Lewis-Skelly will join a national team that is set for a fresh start under Tuchel. England were on the hunt for a new head coach after the European Championship ended in defeat to Spain in the final.
Gareth Southgate resigned following that defeat and England appointed Lee Carsley as the interim boss in the meantime. In October, the FA announced that Tuchel had been appointed the new manager having left Bayern Munich last season.
He officially started work on New Year's Day and the German has been attending several Premier League matches as he prepares to name his first squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia. Both matches will take place at Wembley Stadium.
