Enzo Maresca makes £70m Chelsea transfer request as Tottenham put on red alert after shock bid
by Jake Stokes · football.londonChelsea only have a few more days to prepare for their clash against Aston Villa. Enzo Maresca will lock horns with Unai Emery at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon as they both look to climb the Premier League table.
The Blues have lost each of their last two games – both of which have been against Brighton. The Seagulls dumped Chelsea out of the FA Cup fourth round before piling on the misery a few days later in the English top flight.
As for Aston Villa, they proved their top-four credentials in a dramatic 2-2 draw with Liverpool on Wednesday night. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up all the latest Chelsea news and transfer gossip.
Chelsea eye Guehi swoop
According to the Mirror, Chelsea are determined to sign Marc Guehi this summer. The 24-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge on numerous occasions since leaving the Blues to join Crystal Palace in July 2021.
The report claims Chelsea are 'huge admirers' of Guehi and they're keen to bring the Cobham graduate back to West London. It's said that Maresca rate the England international highly and views him as a leader who can take his squad to the next level – on and off the pitch.
The Mirror adds that Tottenham Hotspur made a shock late bid for Guehi in the January transfer window; Newcastle United also had numerous offers turned down in the summer, with the Eagles demanding £70m.
football.london says: "Marc Guehi would be a class signing – but not for £70m! £40m at most. He's recently entered the last 18 months of his contract, so his price tag should reflect that."
Chelsea tell Juventus Veiga's price tag
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Chelsea are ready to sell Renato Veiga to Juventus in the summer. The 21-year-old defender joined the Old Lady on loan in the January transfer window, and he's made a great first impression.
The report states that the Blues want around £25m for Veiga's signature – which would be a significant profit on the £12m they paid Basel in the summer. Calciomercato claim that Juventus would rather welcome the Portugal international back on a revised loan deal, which includes an option or obligation to buy in 2026.
It's said that negotiations between the two clubs are expected to begin in the coming weeks.
football.london says: "Renato Veiga has a future at Chelsea, so it would be a shame to see him offloaded. I'd love to see Enzo Maresca play the Portuguese ace at centre-half alongside Levi Colwill. Serious potential."
