Spence out, Maddison call looms - The Tottenham team Ange Postecoglou must pick vs Liverpool
by Rob Guest, Lee Wilmot · football.londonIt promises to be a very exciting game on Sunday afternoon when Tottenham and Liverpool go head-to head in north London. Ange Postecoglou's side are in confident mood right now after winning their past two games and they will be intent on claiming the scalp of the Premier League table toppers.
Liverpool have only lost once in the league this term, with that defeat coming at home to Nottingham Forest at the beginning of the season. The games between the sides were entertaining encounters last term and this one promises to follow suit with Spurs scoring for fun under the Australian.
Tottenham will once again be missing a host of players and that leaves Postecoglou with some tough calls to make as he attempts to freshen things up. So who should be in the Spurs XI to take on Arne Slot's side? Our football.london Tottenham writers have made their team selections below.

Ange Postecoglou will possibly look to refresh his Tottenham team for Sunday's Premier League showdown against Liverpool. The Spurs boss is again limited in terms of his options but he will be able to make a couple of changes.
Destiny Udogie looks to be in a position to return and that may result in Djed Spence dropping down to the substitutes' bench. Spence has been excellent in the past two games but three successive matches may be a tad too much for him after limited playing time beforehand.
Another change could come in midfield and it may see Dejan Kulusevski move back into a central berth and James Maddison miss out completely. Brennan Johnson has not started in the past two games and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him drafted back in for some fresh legs in attack.
Guest's team: Forster; Porro, Dragusin, Gray, Udogie; Bissouma, Sarr, Kulusevski; Johnson, Solanke, Son.
Lee Wilmot - Head of football
As much as I've been impressed with Djed Spence in his two games, I think, given the time he spent out of action, it's worth resting him for the game at Liverpool, with Destiny Udogie set to return to action from injury. The rest of the back-line picks itself given the injury situation at the club.
In midfield I'd be inclined to start a bit more defensively than perhaps Ange Postecoglou might like and use Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as the double pivot, with Dejan Kulusevski ahead of them. James Maddison is a good option to bring off the bench.
Then up to I'd put Brennan Johnson back in off one side, with Son Heung-min on the other in support of Dominic Solanke.
Wilmot's team: Forster; Porro, Gray, Dragusin, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Kulusevski; Johnson, Solanke, Son.
