Bukayo Saka Arsenal contract update amid Gabriel and William Saliba plan ahead of Real Madrid
by Bruna Reis, Tom Canton · football.londonArsenal are keen to offer Bukayo Saka a new contract amid potential interest at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old's current contract is set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 season and his importance to Arsenal and Mikel Arteta remains unquestioned. BBC Sport report that the club are 'preparing' to meet with Saka's representatives over a new contract extension.
It's said that ensuring that a new long-term deal is on top of the club's priorities. The report adds that 'early moves' towards opening concrete talks have 'already initiated.'
football.london understands that as it stands, formal talks are yet to take place and this goes for William Saliba too. Saka, who is thought to be worth a minimum of £10million per season, last signed his current contract in 2022.
Prior to that, he was subject of interest from Manchester City and no doubt, other clubs will become interested if talks don't go smoothly.
But for now, the player is understood to be focussed on returning to full fitness after suffering a hamstring tear in December.
"He’s getting closer, he’s stepping up and making a very good progress I would say," said the Gunners boss, Arteta last Friday.
"So, let’s see when we start to throw him in with the team, how he reacts and how fit he can get quickly."
Arsenal's next game after the international break is against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on April 1. There is a chance the England international could be involved in some capacity if more progress is made until then.
In terms of contract talks, Arsenal remain engaged in conversation with Gabriel Magalhaes over his future. But when it comes to Saka, Saliba and Gabriel, the club are said to be calm over the situation.
