Arsenal transfer links won’t leave me alone - this is how I really feel about the rumours

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak has addressed the constant rumours regarding Arsenal amid fresh speculation of a move to north London.

The Magpies forward is once again being linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium in 2025, with the January transfer window just around the corner. Isak, 25, was strongly associated with the Gunners over the summer before Mikel Arteta's side decided against signing a new forward.

Arsenal may regret that decision as they have lacked a certain edge this season, entering the international break sat fourth in the Premier League. And as rumours continue to link Isak with a transfer south, he opened up about his feelings on the speculation and whether it affects him.

"Throughout my career, I have never talked about or really commented on the move rumours during the season," he told Swedish media (via The Mirror). "There have been many such years where it has been talked about. It doesn't affect me.

"I am commenting on my situation in Newcastle, and I have never had any problem there. I am fully focused on my task there and that we will have a fantastic season. There are still great opportunities for that. I have no thoughts about anything else.

"The only thing I can say is that a lot of information and rumours often come out. Much of what I read is not true. So that's about all I can say about the whole thing."

Isak's current contract runs until 2028, but that doesn't stop speculation about his future at the club from mounting. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe confirmed this uncertainty in October when he said the Swede's situation was "not clear cut".

Isak is reportedly eager to play Champions League football, but he believes he can achieve this goal with Newcastle, who are currently eighth in the table, just one point off the top four. The ex-Borussia Dortmund and Real Sociedad star finished last season with a career-high 25 goals in all competitions.

He has maintained a similar scoring rate this season, with five goals in 11 appearances, including goals in three consecutive matches against Arsenal, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest. Although Isak isn't the only Swedish player linked with a move to the Emirates recently, as rumours also surround his international team-mate Viktor Gyokeres.

The Sporting CP striker continues to post impressive numbers in Lisbon, but it's suggested Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Liverpool are also interested in his talents. That kind of competition could prove prohibitive if a bidding war were to ensue.

Newcastle supporters will be thrilled to hear Isak respects the club too much to discuss his future mid-season. Howe will undoubtedly be keen to retain one of St. James' Park's most valuable assets, while the player does his part to distance himself from any potential departure.
