Arsenal's four summer transfer priorities revealed as chiefs set for showdown Kroenke talks
by Husmukh Kerai, Matthew Cooper · football.londonThe Arsenal hierarchy are preparing for a crucial meeting with the Kroenke family this week to discuss their transfer strategy following the departure of sporting director Edu. The Brazilian's exit was confirmed last week, and he is now set to take up a new role overseeing clubs owned by Evangelos Marinakis, including Nottingham Forest.
Key figures from the Gunners are heading stateside to meet with Josh and Stan Kroenke in a meeting that has taken on added significance following Edu's departure. As per the Standard, the North London club's plans for the next two transfer windows will be top of the agenda.
It's suggested that the Gunners are eyeing moves for a new winger, striker and goalkeeper, as well as considering how best to provide Mikel Arteta with cover for skipper Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian playmaker recently returned from an ankle injury, and his absence highlighted the need for another creative spark in midfield.
RB Leipzig frontman Benjamin Sesko was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, and it's hinted that Arsenal could reignite their interest in the Slovenian. Newcastle's Alexander Isak is also reportedly on the Gunners' radar.
Arsenal had their eyes on Spanish winger Nico Williams last summer, with the 22-year-old having a £48million release clause in his contract. However, they face stiff competition from other top European clubs, including Barcelona, reports the Mirror.
The Gunners are also looking to bolster their goalkeeping options, with David Raya being the preferred choice after Aaron Ramsdale's move to Southampton. Neto is currently serving as backup, but at 35 and only on loan from Bournemouth, he's not a long-term solution.
Arsenal also showed interest in Espanyol's Joan Garcia last summer, but couldn't seal the deal for the 23-year-old. They may revisit this interest come season end.
