Major Alexander Isak transfer plea sent amid Arsenal and Chelsea links as huge gesture made
by Amie Wilson · football.londonNewcastle United fans have appeared to make a transfer plea to striker Alexander Isak, with both Arsenal and Chelsea linked with a move for the player.
The forward has caught the eye with Newcastle since his move from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. In his 78 games for the club in all competitions, he has scored 40 goals and provided seven assists.
It’s perhaps no surprise, then, that other clubs have been credited with an interest ahead of the January transfer window. Arsenal are likely to be on the lookout for a new striker in the winter window, and were repeated linked with Isak over the summer.
Chelsea have now also been linked with the Newcastle man. TEAMTalk report that the Blues have expressed an interest, but Newcastle are asking for a minimum of £115 million if they are to sell in the upcoming window.
Isak and the Magpies are in action on Monday night as they take on West Ham United at St James’ Park. And ahead of that game, Newcastle fans made a huge gesture to Isak as well as sending him a clear transfer message.
Before the teams came out of the tunnel, one end of the ground had blue and yellow flags, the colours of Isak’s Sweden team, spelling out his name. The other end of the stadium held a banner that read “Alexander the great.”
The striker almost paid them back in the best way, as he ran in behind the West Ham defence and dinked the ball over the goalkeeper in just the sixth minute. However, the offside flag cut short any celebrations with VAR confirming the decision.
