Chelsea's new look squad 'finalised' as Enzo Maresca gifted double transfer deal

by · football.london

Chelsea have already put plans in place for the 2025/2026 season with two new players, despite Enzo Maresca's men still having plenty to play for in the current campaign.

The Blues have proved some doubters wrong this term, finding themselves in the Premier League top-four spots. After qualifying for the Conference League last season, Champions League football could well be making a return to Stamford Bridge.

With 10 games still left to play, the west Londoners are currently ahead of Manchester City and Newcastle. Tough matches against Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest await them in a crucial period of the season.

However, despite uncertainty over the European competition they'll be competing in next season, Chelsea have already agreed two transfers to improve Maresca's squad. Sporting CP starlet Geovany Quenda, 17, emerged as a shock arrival on Friday in a deal worth about €50million (£42.1m).

Manchester United have held AN interest in the teenager after Ruben Amorim handed him his debut in Portugal in August. However, a move to London has been agreed with the winger remaining at Sporting CP on loan until 2026.

But Quenda isn't the only player from Jose Alvalade Stadium set to join Chelsea. Reports in Portugal have claimed that midfielder Dario Essugo is close to joining with A Bola suggesting a €22m (£18.5m) deal finalised.

Essugo is currently on loan at La Liga side Las Palmas - and has also been linked with United. Yet, just like they did with Quenda, the Blues have invested in the wonderkid market to pip their Premier League rivals to that signature.

The two players are now set to be the first through their door in the summer with a number set to follow them - although Quenda won't join up with his new teammates until the summer of 2026. A new goalkeeper, midfielder and striker are all expected to be targeted by Maresca at the end of the current season.

Here, football.london takes a look at how the Chelsea squad could - even if only in an ideal world - look for the start of the 2025/2026 season;
