Viktor Gyokeres sends two-word message amid Arsenal transfer offer as 'agreement' reached

by · football.london

Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres played a decisive hand in Sporting CP going one step closer to the Portuguese league title.

Ahead of their massive clash away at rivals Benfica on Saturday evening, both teams sat on 78 points with two games to play.

Though a tense encounter was expected, Sporting got off to the best possible start as Gyokeres picked out Trincao, who swept home expertly after a strong run down the left from the Swede.

Benfica equalised in the second half with Kerem Akturoglu on target and though a victory for either side would almost confirm them as champions, neither could find that elusive winner which has seen Sporting remain top on goal difference.

Prior to all of that, Gyokeres made it very clear on social media that he was fired up for the clash with his clever assist showing that. Posting to his Instagram story, with a picture of him doing his trademark celebration, Gyokeres wrote: "Lets go [lion emoji]."

The 26-year-old then reposted Sporting revealing, via Instagram, that was his 100th appearance with an incredible 96 goals scored in that time.

It is therefore no surprise at all that summer transfer links to Arsenal are ramping up significantly. Since the arrival of sporting director Andrea Berta back in March, Gyokeres has seemingly become the Gunners' No.1 striker transfer signing.

That has been further proven by claims in the Saturday edition of Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, which state the Gunners have submitted their first official offer for Gyokeres with an agreement over personal terms already reached.

The value of that offer is said to be £63.4million (€75m) which is roughly how much Sporting and Gyokeres have agreed he would be allowed to depart for.

That potentially major update came just after Arsenal made a key breakthrough in their long-standing pursuit of Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi with an agreement in principle reached to sign him. The Gunners now just need to fork out £51million to activate his release clause or pay that fee using instalments.

In addition to signing Zubimendi and a striker, Arsenal would like to sign a goalkeeper, wide forward and defender, as football.london understands.

Joan Garcia, Nico Williams, Bryan Mbeumo, Jamie Gittens and Jorrel Hato are just a few names likely to be linked with Arsenal over the coming months with the summer transfer window opening on Sunday, June 1.
