Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the fitness of Timo Werner, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario ahead of Tottenham's clash against Liverpool at the weekend.

The Lilywhites welcome Arne Slot's side to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on the back of a thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on Thursday. Both Werner and Udogie missed the clash against the Red Devils but could make their returns on Sunday.

Werner missed the clash against Man Utd due to illness, while Udogie was forced off just 30 minutes into last weekend's win at Southampton. Postecoglou revealed after the game that Udogie felt tightness in his leg but the left-back may be available again this weekend.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Postecoglou said when asked for an injury update: "Hopefully. We'll see, the boys are coming in now as it was a late night. Timo was unwell yesterday so we've got 48 hours or so before the game and hopefully he will recover. The plan is Destiny should be ok."

The Australian also provided an update on Vicario, who underwent surgery on his right ankle last month. "Going well," Postecoglou said. "Typical Vic as he's pushing every boundary. He's still a fair bit away but he'll make sure he's back as quickly as possible. He's still around the group and invested in what we're doing. He's progressing well."

Elsewhere, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Ben Davies, Richarlison, Mikey Moore and Wilson Odobert remain out for Tottenham. Postecoglou is looking forward to facing the current league leaders although the former Celtic boss knows it will be incredibly tough.

He said: "We'll play our football because that's what is winning us games. Liverpool are a fantastic side and are going really well. Arne [Slot] has come in and it's not easy when taking over with the status of [Jurgen] Klopp. Very settled as a team and quality in the squad. Real belief at the moment and the standout team in the competition at the moment."
