Mohammed Kudus to Arsenal transfer tipped amid three-word Gabriel Martinelli comment

by · football.london

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn believes West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus has the quality to be an Arsenal player as he outlines the Gunners' need for more attacking reinforcements. The 24-year-old has proved to be an astute signing for the Hammers after they beat Brighton to his signature.

Julen Lopetegui's side have endured a difficult start to the season, with pressure mounting on the Spaniard in East London. Kudus has two goals in eight Premier League appearances after eight goals and six assists during his debut campaign in the English top-flight.

His showings have courted tenuous links with a move to Arsenal, during a period where the Gunners' attacking options are suggested as being reinforced in the transfer window. Reports in Spain have claimed that the North London club could be eyeing a move worth €100million (£82m).

Winterburn pointed out that Gabriel Martinelli struggled at the end of last season, as Mikel Arteta's side were edged out of the Premier League title race. While Kudus, it has been claimed, is not in the same league as Gunners star Bukayo Saka.

"Kudus has the ability. He is a good player, but he is not in the same league as Saka, that's for sure," he told Bonus Code Bets. "Martinelli lost his way a bit towards the end of last season.

"Do Arsenal need more players in that area? I think the manager would say he would love to have more players everywhere," he added. "I suppose, they are also doing the assessment in terms of what Kudus’ character is like.

"Will he fit into their squad and not come in and disrupt it? That's the last thing you want.

"But ability wise he's got it, but I don´t think he would come straight into the starting eleven. That could be an issue, because he is used to playing a lot. It's an interesting question, because price is also relevant, for sure."
