Chelsea given 'significant' Jadon Sancho transfer update as Christopher Nkunku stance emerges
by Isaac Seelochan · football.londonChelsea will be hoping to reset during the international break after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Arsenal on Sunday.
Enzo Maresca's side remain fourth in the Premier League and are on course for a lucrative spot in next season's Champions League. However, the Blues have been extremely unconvincing in recent weeks and are yet to win away from home in the league this year.
Chelsea will return to action with a London derby at home to Tottenham Hotspur on April 3 (8pm kick-off). They will then travel to Brentford before a trip to Legia Warszawa in the first-leg of their Europa Conference League quarter-final tie. With all that said, below are some of the latest Chelsea headlines as well as a view on each one.
Sancho update
Chelsea are reportedly contemplating paying a 'significant fee' to terminate their agreement to permanently sign Jadon Sancho in the summer. Sancho, who has been struggling for form, is currently on loan from Premier League rivals Manchester United.
And the i Paper claim that there has been some consideration into backing out of a deal to sign Sancho. It is said that they would need to pay a ‘significant’ penalty fee.
Isaac Seelochan of football.london says:"It says a lot about Sancho's form that Chelsea may be willing to pay a significant fee not to sign him. It's hard to know where Sancho will go from here because he almost certainly won't have a future at United either."
Nkunku stance
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has been left underwhelmed by Christopher Nkunku since he joined Chelsea. “I think Nkunku has been a massive disappointment for Chelsea, [given] what they thought they were buying," Deeney told talkSPORT.
Isaac Seelochan of football.london says: "Injuries have been a major issue for Nkunku at Chelsea, and he's never quite regained any sort of form, partly because of it. He also does not appear to fit into Maresca's system at Chelsea, so it would be no great surprise to see him leave this summer."
