Here's the Tottenham team we reckon Ange Postecoglou could select to face Brentford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon

Tottenham return to the Premier League with a visit to Brentford and Ange Postecoglou is looking for an upturn in results.

Spurs recorded a 3-0 Europa League victory on Thursday night against Elfsborg to advance to the round of 16 but Postecoglou's men must start improving their dreadful Premier League run of results. Games at Brentford have been a tough challenge for most teams this season and Tottenham are yet to start getting the bulk of their injured players back.

In the European win, Postecoglou gave Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma, Son Heung-min and the returning Micky van de Ven 45 minutes each while Djed Spence is also expected to be available after injury. When it comes to Van de Ven, Postecoglou may have to decide whether the Dutchman can handle three starts in a week after just one game previously in three months.

That could mean a start for Ben Davies in the centre of defence alongside Archie Gray, although there could also be a temptation to hand Pedro Porro a rest with Spence replacing him. Pape Matar Sarr has been carrying an injury and limped off the pitch at half-time despite playing the full game and he could be handed a rest this time.

Spurs have signed centre-back Kevin Danso from Lens on loan with an obligation to buy, but the 26-year-old will not be available to play until Thursday night's Carabao Cup semi-final second leg at Liverpool.

Here's the Tottenham team that we reckon Postecoglou will select at Brentford:

Right-back - Pedro Porro

Centre-back - Archie Gray

Centre-back - Ben Davies

Postecoglou could decide to hold Van de Ven back for this one if there's any doubt that he might miss the Liverpool game if he plays in this game.(Image: Chloe Knott - Danehouse/Getty Images)

Left-back - Djed Spence

A rare pair of completely fresh legs in the Tottenham defence and he will need to get up and down the left flank.

Central midfield - Rodrigo Bentancur

The Uruguayan played just 45 minutes on Thursday so should be fresher for this game.(Image: Getty Images)

Central midfield - Yves Bissouma

Another who got 45 minutes in the Europa League so should be in a position to start.(Image: Visionhaus/Getty Images)

Central midfield - Lucas Bergvall

The teenager will likely have to start again after 90 minutes in midweek and Spurs will need his engine in a busy midfield.

Right wing - Dejan Kulusevski

The Swede got only 45 minutes of action and will need to provide the creativity in a team that's got more industry than penetration.(Image: Alex Pantling/Getty Images)

Centre forward - Richarlison

Left wing - Son Heung-min
