Arsenal receive £63m transfer boost after Mikel Arteta gift to Stan Kroenke

by · football.london

Arsenal have been handed a huge financial boost with the transfer values of academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri rocketing over the last 15 months.

At just 18-years-old and 17-years-old respectively, both players have broken into Mikel Arteta ’s first team this season and have caught the eye with their performances, despite both playing in a different position to that which they played in youth football.

Lewis-Skelly has played a total of 26 first team games in all competitions so far this campaign, while Nwaneri has featured in 29, scoring eight goals. Both have come up through the youth teams at the Emirates Stadium.

Having being given a chance by Arteta, they have taken it with both hands. It’s no surprise then that both have seen their transfer value increase significantly since December 2023.

15 months ago, Transfermarkt valued Lewis-Skelly at €2 million (£1.7m). That increased slightly to €5 million (£4.2m) in October 2024, and increased again to €10 million (£8.4m) in December last year.

However, the biggest increase has come since then with the teenager making the majority of his appearances since December. His performances has seen his value now rise to €28 million (£23.5m).

That’s therefore a total rise of £21.8 million in the 15 months since December 2023. It’s a similar story, but with even bigger numbers for Nwaneri.

15 months ago the attacker was valued at €6 million (£5m). In March 2024, that increased slightly to €8 million (£6.7m), with another increase to €12 million (£10m) coming last October.

It’s since then that the 17-year-old’s value has rocketed. Back in December, he was valued at €30 million (£25.2m), with it rising to €55m (£46.2m) this month.

The total rise in the 15 months since December 2023 is £41.2 million.

It means that the value increase for both Lewis-Skelly and Nwaneri combined is £63 million.

While there is likely to be no consideration by Arsenal over selling either player anytime soon, with both players coming up through the academy, any future sale would go down as pure profit on the financial sheets. That would be a big boost in regards to the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSRs) as they are currently written.

Arteta’s work in developing the duo and giving them a chance in the first team is one of the main reasons behind the dramatic rise in values over the last few months. The club and the two players will hope that the values continue to rocket over the next few months and years.
