During the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Paris Major this weekend, it was announced that Rocket League will be getting an overhaul. But not just any overhaul. Rocket League will be redone in Unreal Engine 6, which hadn’t even been announced until this point. What’s more, if steely-eyed viewers are correct, one feature of UE6 could be a new metaverse launcher that includes Rocket League, Fortnite, and other partnered titles.

During the teaser for the Rocket League Unreal Engine 6 overhaul, there was a moment in which it appeared we were looking at a new UI with an Epic Games player icon near the top right in active Online mode, with a URL in the top left that read verse://rocketleague.com.

Looking at the way the teaser is presented, Unreal Engine 6 might not just bring the latest improvements and tools to its graphical game design suite to game design, but also an overhaul in how we peruse and access games through the Epic Games ecosystem. Not only was Fortnite teased, but Disney and LEGO experiences were included in the teaser as well.

Up to this point, the Epic Games Store has failed anywhere near the highs of its competitor Steam in form, function, or overall user adoption, so a major change to the ecosystem and its overall use doesn’t seem outlandish. With Rocket League acting as the test bed of the new engine’s rollout, stay tuned to the Unreal Engine 6 topic for more news and updates.
