With a month left before the release of Mario Tennis Fever, Nintendo has released a new overview trailer that outlines a slew of new details about the upcoming sports game. From a deep character roster to various online and offline modes, there’s a lot to learn about the next Mario sports game.

Fever Rackets are the hot new mechanic in Mario Tennis Fever, allowing players to apply different conditions to the ball or court based on which racket they use. For example, the freeze racket will cover a small area of the court in ice upon impact, making opposing players slip as they attempt to hit the ball. The Pokey Racket spawns a Pokey at the point of impact. There are 30 Fever Rackets in total, which can be mixed and matched with the 38-character roster.

Players who want a more grounded tennis experience can ditch the Fever Rackets by activating Classic Rules. Here, there’s a stronger emphasis on the newly added offensive and defensive maneuvers.

The game modes in Mario Tennis Fever include Tournament, Trial Tower, Ring Shot, and Wonder Court Match, among others. The trailer also gave us a new look at Adventure mode, the game’s campaign.

Mario Tennis Fever supports four-player play in offline, local, and online formats. If one player owns the game, they can use GameShare to share it locally with up to three other systems, even the Switch 1. In online matches, players can set up rooms and customize the rules, or go for glory in Ranked Mode.

Mario Tennis Fever launches on February 12, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2. It was originally announced during last September’s Nintendo Direct presentation.
