Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's "First Real Test of Their Relationship" Might Majorly Delay Their Wedding

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's relationship has been smooth sailing ever since he asked her out using a friendship bracelet, but now that the couple has a few years—and a whole engagement!—under their belt, sh*t is about to get real.

The Daily Mail reports that Travis is currently weighing what his options are as an NFL player, now that the Kansas City Chiefs aren't going to the Super Bowl this year. As such, he's grappling with retiring from the game altogether—but his and Taylor's wedding plans will likely get delayed if he decides to stay on the team.

A source told the outlet, “Travis is a bit defeated right now...he is used to still be playing, and he is missing not being on the field, which might bode well for his fans and the Chiefs if he decides to play another year.”

Thankfully, Taylor and fans of the Chiefs appear to have a deadline—“Travis will make the Chiefs well aware of his future plans by early March [2026]. We will know a few weeks after the Super Bowl if he will be returning or not. That is his timeline that he has set to make a decision to play one more year or not.”

Swifties wanting a wedding in 2026 might have to put their hopes on ice, because Taylor isn't in a rush. She's apparently “trying to put [Travis] in a better mood by spending more time with him and not bombarding him with wedding plans,” and “would want him to focus on [the wedding] after he makes his career decision because she knows how important that is to him.”

Travis, sadly, isn't taking this “stressful and life-altering” decision about his retirement very well, and “Taylor understands that this is the first real test of their relationship.”

Until Travis makes up his mind, Taylor “doesn't want the stress of planning their wedding to ‘come between them.’ She is focusing on positivity right now, but she wants him to be in a place where he is happy because at the end of the day, that will make them happy.”
