Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis Fight on Netflix Canceled

by · Variety

Netflix and fight promoter Most Valuable Promotions announced that the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta “Tank” Davis boxing match, originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14, will no longer be moving forward.

The event, which was to be held at Miami’s Kaseya Center, had been set to be livestreamed worldwide on Netflix. MVP said it was still planning to stage a headline fight for Paul, the digital influencer turned pro boxer, sometime in 2025 on Netflix.

A year ago, Netflix streamed Paul’s record-breaking fight against Mike Tyson, which drew an estimated average minute audience (AMA) of 108 million live viewers globally. According to Netflix, the Paul-Tyson fight was the most-streamed sporting event to date, according to Netflix.

The announcement of the Paul-Davis fight’s cancellation comes after Davis was sued last week in another alleged domestic incident. As reported by ESPN, in a civil lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade County, Davis was accused by ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Calvin Ford, Davis’ trainer, told USA Today that the lawsuit against the boxer was “nonsense” and said about Davis, “He’s doing great. Everything’s good. That’s why we’re trying to find out what’s going on.” Davis had previously been accused in a domestic violence case by a different ex-girlfriend; that case was dropped in August. Davis is on probation after he pleaded guilty to a 2020 hit-and-run car accident, according to CBS News.

“Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” Nakisa Bidarian, CEO of Most Valuable Promotions, said in a statement issued Monday. “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.”

In a statement released on Nov. 1, MVP said it had “immediately initiated an investigation upon learning of the civil lawsuit filed against Gervonta Davis in Miami-Dade County on October 30th, 2025. At this time, we are gathering information and reviewing the details to ensure any decision we make is thoroughly vetted. We unequivocally condemn any form of violence and are committed to handling this matter with diligence and respect for all involved.”

Fans who purchased tickets via Ticketmaster for the Paul vs. Davis fight will get an automatic refund through their original point of purchase within 14-21 days, according to MVP.
