2027 Irish Open moved to July date at K Club

Shane Lowry's expected defence of his Irish Open title will take place in an earlier slot in the calendar in 2027 with the K Club event to be held from 1 to 4 July.

September has been the usual month for the national event in recent seasons, but with Adare Manor hosting the Ryder Cup from 17-19 September, it has been pushed back and will now be the first event on the DP World Tour's 'Closing Swing' series.

The Kildare event will be held two weeks before the Open at St Andrew's, potentially making it a destination for some of the game's top players in a tune-up for the final major of the year.

A number of events have returned to the DP World Tour schedule – the Hong Kong Open and Deutsche Bank Singapore Open, co-sanctioned with the Asian Tour, and the the Open de Portugal|Cascais-Lisboa, last played in 2020.

The dates for the FedEx Open de France (9-12 September) and BMW PGA Championship (23-26 September) have also been changed due to the Ryder Cup.

The Irish Open has had home winners for its last two seasons, Lowry winning by a record 11 strokes at Doonbeg last weekend and Rory McIlroy triumphing at the K Club in 2025.
