They don’t make aces like CC Sabathia anymore — and all the other reasons behind my Hall of Fame ballot

· New York Post

As I write this sentence, the Hall of Fame results have not been announced. That comes Tuesday at 6 p.m.

But the vote tracking done by Ryan Thibodaux strongly indicated that CC Sabathia will be elected on his first ballot. I voted for Sabathia — and also Carlos Beltran, Ichiro Suzuki and Chase Utley.

I think if you have a ballot you should publicly reveal who you voted for and explain the choices. I will dig into each of my picks, but I did want to focus on Sabathia and what I believe is a growing phenomenon in the voting process to find stats and/or metrics that are similar between players and — to support your case — equate one with the other without too much (if any) context.

I saw that happen this year with Mark Buehrle and Andy Pettitte having their numbers put side by side against Sabathia. Therefore, that line of reasoning holds, if Sabathia is getting my vote, then one or both of those guys should as well.
