Swansea City transfer bulletin as Grimes undergoes Coventry City medical and target leaves camp to complete move
by Tom Coleman · Wales OnlineSwansea City captain Matt Grimes is undergoing a medical at Coventry City this afternoon as his move to the CBS Arena draws ever closer.
Grimes said his goodbyes to the club at Fairwood on Tuesday, with the two clubs later accepting a third bid from the Sky Blues, believed to be around £3.5m to £4m.
The move is expected to earn Grimes a significant increase on his current pay packet with the Swans, and it's understood he will become one of the club's highest earners as and when the move is completed. Sign up to our Swansea City newsletter here.
Grimes has now travelled to Coventry to complete a medical, although there are still a few bits of paperwork to iron out before he is officially confirmed as Frank Lampard's first signing.
It's not yet clear if he'll be confirmed in time to face his former club on Saturday.
Another player heading for a medical is Swedish under-21s star Melker Widell, who looks set to complete his transfer to Swansea within the next couple of days.
Sources in Denmark claim the midfielder has left Aalborg's training camp in Marbella to complete the move, although he will rejoin the Danish side on loan until the end of the season as part of the terms of the deal.

It's understood his medical will take place in London later this evening.
Meanwhile, former Swans loanee Luke Cundle is close to completing a move away from Wolves - but won't be heading to Swansea.
The midfielder was an option considered by the club in this window, but it seems was never considered a serious target in this window.
He's now set to undergo a medical ahead of a £1m move to Millwall later this afternoon.
