Gabby Logan admits 'I miss her a lot' as emotional farewell leads to major family change
by Danny Gutmann · Wales OnlineRenowned sports presenter Gabby Logan has provided a rare insight into her family life, as she opened up about the trials and tribulations of one of her children leaving home recently.
Chatting on the White Wine Question Time podcast, Gabby shared her affection for her 19-year-old daughter, Lois, as she admitted that she misses the teenager 'a lot', ever since she went to university.
Gabby revealed: "She's very thoughtful and she's very motivated, very determined. It's interesting what she rings me for, for advice and what she rings Kenny for, for advice.
"It's so obvious what she sees us both as. It's hilarious, actually, because I wonder if she realises that she does that, I'm sure she does. She's great, I miss her a lot when she's not here."
Looking back to last September as Lois joined millions of young people around the country as they started university, Gabby recalled the difficult car journey home, as she reflected on her own parenting skills: "It really does (hurt). Because, on that journey home, it's about two hours, and I'd built up to it anyway.
"I'd started thinking, being a bit too nostalgic, you start thinking of things, should I have done that better as a parent? Could I have done this bit (better)? Because at that point, you're releasing them aren't you?"
Away from her family life, the 51-year-old has forged a hugely successful career to date, having presented coverage of huge sporting events, including the 2012 London Olympics, European Championships, World Cups and multiple Champions League Finals.
More recently, she has also made a significant impact in the world of podcasting, with her Mid Point podcast attracting a number of high-profile celebrity guests, including a recent interview with Sir Chris Hoy.
But, having presented countless sporting events across ITV and the BBC over the years, Gabby's career reached a new high recently, after being confirmed as one third of Match of the Day's new presenting team, as the long-serving Gary Lineker announced that he would be stepping down from the role.
She will share the hosting duties with Kelly Cates and her Sports Agents podcast colleague, Mark Chapman.
