Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk official judges' scorecards vs AI verdict after points controversy

Tyson Fury has been left completely distraught after what he believed to be unfair scoring saw him defeated in his rematch with heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

The Gypsy King, who had been confident of victory, walked out of the ring without giving a post-fight interview upon hearing that Usyk had unanimously retained his WBC, WBA, and WBO titles with a 116-112 lead from all three judges.

Backstage, a disgruntled Fury expressed his disbelief as he said: "Honestly, I thought I won by three rounds."

Despite different opinions on whether Fury or Usyk deserved the win or if it should have been considered a closer score, the judges were unanimous in their critique of Fury's performance in the later rounds of the bout.

Judge 'Jerry' Martinez, scored the first half of the fight relatively evenly, giving Fury three of the first five rounds but then awarded Usyk the following six. Patrick Morley's card also favoured Fury early on, with the Gypsy King winning four of the first five rounds only to lose the subsequent seven.

Finally, Ignacio Robles gave Fury just one round out of the final seven, despite initially leading, reports the Mirror. Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, was left baffled by the judges' scoring, and was in shock at the outcome of the fight.

"It's impossible," Warren declared. "How did Tyson only get four rounds in this fight? Everyone across the front all thought the same way. It's nuts. Did you only give him four rounds. Nuts. I don't get it. Really disappointed with that.

"I thought Tyson was in control. Thought he boxed extremely well. One judge didn't give him any round from round six onwards. How can that be? Same with the other judge here. He gave him one round of the last six. It's crazy. A nonsense.

"Oscar de la Hoya and I had him [Fury] winning by three or four rounds. What fight were they watching? You lose you lose, that's fair enough. But come on. It's nuts.

"It was a good boxing performance by him. He used all his physical attributes. He stayed focused. I mean, come on, count the jabs. All you want is a level playing field and a fair crack of the whip. But that scoring is not good whatsoever."

During his eventual post-fight press conference, Fury himself couldn't contain his frustration. The disgruntled boxer said: "I thought I won the fight again, I was Larry Holmesed again. I was on the front foot the entire time. When you don't get the knockout, this is what can happen."

He also criticised the AI scorecard introduced for this bout by Turki Alalshikh, which had the champion ahead by even further at 118-112. Upon hearing about the AI scorecard, Fury added: "Computers can f*** off".

On the other hand, Usyk was complimentary of Fury's performances across both fights. He said: "He is a great fighter, he is a great opponent. An unbelievable 24 rounds for my career. Thank you so much."
