Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay Milos Kerkez's release clause to secure Andy Robertson's long-term replacement and have already made initial contact with Bournemouth. Kerkez is understood to have a £50million release clause at the south coast side.
The 21-year-old has attracted attention from several clubs as he continues to impress for Bournemouth in the Premier League this season. However, Liverpool's ties with Bournemouth, following Richard Hughes' move from the south coast to Merseyside have put the Reds in a strong position to land the Hungary star.
With Liverpool looking to sign a new left-back at the end of the season, Arne Slot has already made his feelings clear over Kerkez. "He’s playing over here, he’s having a great season, as many, many other players are here as well," the Dutch boss previously said when asked about the left-back.
The ECHO has taken a look at the latest reports detailing Liverpool's interest in Kerkez.
'Initial contact'
The i Paper report Liverpool have made initial contact with Bournemouth over Kerkez in an attempt to try and get ahead of competition.
However, it's said no formal bid has been tabled yet. The ECHO understands that Liverpool are interested in the player and are also keeping tabs on a number of other potential options ahead of the forthcoming transfer window.
Bournemouth's stance
The south coast side are believed to have made it clear they will not let Kerkez leave for less than £40million, according to reports.
However, they have already signed their long-term left-back replacement in Julio Soler. He completed the move from Argentinian side Lanus in January.
Three-man shortlist
The Reds are reported to have a three-man left-back shortlist with the i Paper stating that besides Kerkez, Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies and Paris Saint-Germain's Nuno Mendes are the club's top picks.
In addition, Ajax's Jorrel Hato is also mentioned as someone who the club are 'considering' to fill in the left-back spot.
Kerkez's transfer stance
The Hungary international reportedly favours a move to Merseyside over the other options.
It's claimed that one of the reasons he sees himself at Liverpool is because he would link-up with director of football Hughes, who brought him to the south coast.
Speaking about his future, the defender hinted to Nemzetisport last month that he would like to link up with international teammate Dominik Szoboszlai: "It wouldn't look bad [working with Szoboszlai at Liverpool], that's for sure.
"But it's too early to talk about something like that. I have big goals with Bournemouth, we still have a lot of games to win, that's the most important thing right now."
Agent with Liverpool connections
The 21-year-old has recently changed agents, with Fali Ramadani now his representative.
He's an experienced figure who has worked with Liverpool before and oversaw Federico Chiesa's move to the club last summer.
