Newcastle United chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan has reportedly made his Alexander Isak stance clear amid heavy-handed interest ahead of the summer transfer window. Liverpool continue to be linked with a move for Isak and will not have to wait too long until the market re-opens to conduct any proposed business.
Arsenal are also thought to be interested in Isak's signature - and have been long-term admirers of him. They are expected to look to the market to strengthen their attack following injuries to Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz this season, which has left them short up top in recent weeks.
Isak continues to shine for Eddie Howe's side and was on-target during the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool last weekend. Al-Rumayyan, who was present at Wembley, was delighted as the Magpies lifted a trophy for the first time in 70 years - at Liverpool's expense - with Dan Burn also scoring.
The Sweden striker proved, yet again, that he can perform on the biggest stage, scoring the winning goal for his team in the second half. According to The Mail, the Saudi chief is insistent that Isak "will not be going anywhere", during the summer transfer window.
It's reported that he is "more fond" of Isak than any other player in the Magpies' squad. While Newcastle have not discussed a selling price for Isak, the message from those above has been clear; Al-Rumayyan and the governor of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund do not want to sell the prolific goal-scorer.
It's been reported, in some circles, that Liverpool have already tried to get ahead of competition by holding talks with Isak's representatives over a deal. But he's also on the radar of Catalan giants Barcelona, who are reported to have scouted the 25-year-old during his recent match against West Ham.
It's suggested that the La Liga heavyweights are looking to snap-up a high-profile signing in preparation for their inaugural season at the revamped Nou Camp. Barcelona's president, Joan Laporta, is said to be a big fan of Isak from his time at Real Sociedad before he transferred to St James' Park. With three years remaining on his contract, discussions about a potential new deal are expected to take place after the current season concludes.
"I have high ambitions," Isak admitted when asked about what the future might hold for him. "I'm trying to create my own history at Newcastle.
"I'm happy with what I have done so far, but always looking forward. I'm really enjoying my football and where I'm at in my career right now."
