Lamar Jackson Bracing for Potential Punishment From NFL After Ravens-Bills

Tempers were running high in Sunday's primetime showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and the Buffalo Bills. This was a rematch of last season's Divisional Round clash, which saw the Bills take down the Ravens to book their spot in the Conference Championship.

Lamar Jackson and Co. are looking to make things right after last season's heartbreak and, in the process, kick off their season with a win against Josh Allen and the Bills.

The Ravens took a big step toward that objective in the third quarter after Jackson connected with DeAndre Hopkins for a 29-yard touchdown. That gave Baltimore a 34-19 lead after kicker Tyler Loop scored the extra point.

A contentious moment transpired right after the touchdown, though. In the video below, a fan in the stands can be seen hitting both Hopkins and Jackson in the head as the Ravens celebrated the TD. Jackson was not happy at all, and he decided to forcefully shove the fan, who appeared to have fallen down to his seat after the push.

One could argue that Jackson was merely defending himself after he got hit on the helmet. However, regardless of the circumstances, the Ravens star clearly made contact with the fan, who could have sustained some sort of injury during the incident.

The above video has, unsurprisingly, gone viral, and fans on social media have had mixed reactions to the same.

"He better not get fined," a comment on X read.

"Fan should be banned from every stadium," demanded a viewer.

"Arrest that fan immediately," said another.

More than a few others, however, believe that Jackson should be punished for his actions here.

"In what world are we allowing players to strike fans? 4 game suspension MINIMUM incoming," a reaction read.

"That's a game at least," another said.

"He should be suspended for next Sunday's game right? " suggested a user.

Either way, it would not be surprising if Jackson, at the very least, gets a call from the NFL after this incident. Whether or not he will face any punishment, however, is another matter entirely.

As for the game, it was the Bills who came out on top of a tightly contested matchup, 41-40. It was kicker Matt Prater who scored a game-winning 32-yard field goal for Buffalo to secure the victory and leave the Ravens heartbroken yet again.
