SAN FRANCISCO

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry became the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 career 3-point goals in a 130-104 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Thursday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Curry went into the game with 3,998 3-point goals over 16 seasons. He reached the milestone when he knocked down his second 3-pointer of the game with 8:19 remaining in the third quarter.

Draymond Green scored a season-high 23 points to lead eight players in double figures for the Warriors (38-28), who have won six in a row and 11 of their last 12.

Jonathan Kuminga returned to score 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting after missing 31 games with an ankle injury. Moses Moody added 17 points. Buddy Hield had 16. Curry finished with 11 after going 4 of 9 from the field and 2 of 6 from 3-point range.

DeMar DeRozan had 23 points, five rebounds and seven assists for the Kings (33-32), who have lost three in a row and four of their last five.

Keon Ellis came off the bench to score 18 points. Zach LaVine had 14, going 5 of 6 from the field and 4 of 4 from 3-point range.

Interim Kings coach Doug Christie couldn’t help marveling at Curry’s milestone when asked about it before the game.

“When you think about it, it was (2,560) or something with Reggie Miller, and it was like, ‘Whoa, that’s out of control,’ but (Curry) has changed the game in so many different ways,” Christie said. “From seeing him as a little kid in Toronto and shooting it from his hip to standing behind him on the sideline and he’s shooting it in your eye, a lot of credit to him. That’s an incredible story.

“I know and played with his father, so just watching his family, watching the man he’s become, the player, knowing the hours and the commitment that it takes to do something as great as he does it is humbling in many ways. Massive, massive amount of respect.”

The Kings will be back in action when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Friday on the second night of a back-to-back.
