The huge travelling Clare contingent could be heard acknowledging similar sentiments with one visiting fan saying "she's struggling" to a Kildare counterpart in reference to the surface. The St Conleth's Park stands were full 15 minutes before throw-in for this Division 1B encounter as The Lilies welcome a star-studded Clare side.
It is not a night to be starstruck for Brian Dowling's men whoever who will be hoping to replicate their performance against Antrim last time out instead of their opening day efforts against Dublin, who were only edged by Clare by a couple of points in their first outing in the Allianz Hurling League.
The Banner have won all three of their opening games, defeating Antrim, Down and Dublin, all in impressive style, defeating Dublin 3-18 to 1-22; Down 3-35 to 0-15 while also getting the better of Antrim 2-30 to 1-19, so the task facing Brian Dowling's side is immense, to say the least.
Still it should certainly be a major occasion for Lilywhite fans, to see their own taking on a county the calibre of Clare and it once again, shows the strides The Lilies have made in recent times.
