Arizona Cardinals to hire Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator
by Alex Butler · UPIFeb. 4 (UPI) -- The Arizona Cardinals will hire Nathaniel Hackett as their offensive coordinator.
Sources told NFL Network, ESPN and CBS Sports about the hire Wednesday. Hackett will replace former Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, who was hired for the same role with the Detroit Lions.
Hackett spent last season as a defensive analyst for the Green Bay Packers under coach Matt LaFleur, the brother of new Cardinals coach Mike LaFleur. He was the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets in 2023 and 2024.
The 2025 Cardinals ranked 19th in yards, including the No. 7 passing game and No. 31 rushing attack. They ranked 11th in yards in 2024 under Petzing, with the No. 7 rushing attack and No. 18 passing game.
The Cardinals are still searching for a defensive coordinator. Their defense ranked 27th last season under defensive coordinator Nick Rallis.
