Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars placed wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter on injured reserve, triggering an automatic absence of at least four games, coach Liam Coen announced Friday.

Coen told reporters Hunter hurt his knee during practice Thursday in Jacksonville, Fla. The Jaguars are assessing the injury to determine further care. Coen said he did not know if Hunter will return this season.

"You feel bad for the guy, for the kid, for the team, for everything," Coen said. "He is in good spirits right now. Minor setback for a major comeback. That's just the way it's gotta be."

Hunter, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, logged career-highs in catches (eight) and yards (101) and hauled in his first touchdown in a 35-7 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Oct. 19 in London. He totaled 298 yards on 28 catches through his first seven career appearances.

Dyami Brown, Parker Washington and Tim Patrick are among the Jaguars' wide receivers behind Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. on the Jaguars depth chart.

Coen said the Jaguars plan to elevate a few players from the practice squad. handler Brayboy, Tim Jones and Austin Trammell are the wide receivers on the Jaguars practice squad.

The Jaguars (4-3), who were on bye in Week 8, will play the Las Vegas Raiders (2-5) at 4:05 p.m. EST Sunday in Las Vegas.
