by Alex Butler · UPIJune 24 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Lakers and veteran guard Austin Reaves agreed to a four-year, $185 million contract extension, AMR Agency announced Wednesday.
Reaves' pact, which includes a player option in 2029-30, is the richest contract in NBA history for an undrafted player.
Reaves, who signed a two-way contract with the Lakers in 2021, averaged a career-high 23.3 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game over 51 appearances last season. He logged 15.8 points, 5.5 assists and 4.7 rebounds over the first five years of his NBA career.
Reaves was the Lakers' second-leading scorer last season, trailing only guard Luca Doncic (33.5), who remains under contract for at least two more seasons.
LeBron James, their third-leading scorer (20.9) in 2025-26 and fellow forward Rui Hachimura are among the Lakers' off-season free agents. Lakers center Deandre Ayton and guard Marcus Smart have player options available this off-season.
The NBA's free agency period will start at 6 p.m. EDT Tuesday.
