Unai Emery will take calls on Amadou Onana, Leon Bailey and Jacob Ramsey before Aston Villa's Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday (2pm).

All three players came off in Villa's 1-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night. Emery is however more hopeful that midfielder Onana will be available for selection against United.

John McGinn remains sidelined through injury, but Villa were boosted by the return of Matty Cash in midweek. The right-back wasn't ready to play any minutes against Bayern, but he could feature for the first time in six weeks against United after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Here is the latest on the injury front...

Amadou Onana

Onana picked up an injury during the match with Bayern but managed to play on until around the hour mark.

Asked about the Belgian in his pre-match press conference, Emery said: "He is a doubt, but I think he will be available because it is not a really serious injury. But playing matches during the week and on the weekends, we have to be clinical in our decisions for the next match. Even like last year when we played in the (Europa) Conference, I have to identify as well if I can do some changes getting better moments for other players who are ready to play."

Possible return date: Aston Villa vs Man United, October 6

Leon Bailey

Bailey started on the bench against Bayern because he wasn't fully fit, but came on after Ramsey picked up a groin problem.

"Both are now doubts," Emery said about Bailey and Ramsey. "I don’t know if they will be available on Sunday. They are so, so tight if they are available. Tomorrow we are going to train, but today they are doubtful."

Jacob Ramsey

Ramsey suffered what looked like a groin injury in the win over Bayern and faces a race against time to feature this Sunday.

John McGinn

McGinn picked up a hamstring injury in the win over Wolves last month, but will hopefully return after the international break.

Asked about McGinn's injury before Villa's trip to Ipswich last weekend, Emery said."He’s been out for one week and I think he will now be out for two or three weeks more. Our expectation is that he will be out for three or four weeks altogether."

Possible return date: Fulham vs Aston Villa, October 19

Tyrone Mings

The central defender has not been seen in action since the opening day of the 2023/24 campaign after suffering an ACL injury.

Like Kamara, he has returned to full team training and all going well - with no need to rush him back - the 31-year-old will play a part after the next international break.

Possible return date: Fulham v Aston Villa, October 19

Boubacar Kamara

Emery has been without Kamara since February of this year, when he sustained ACL damage against United. It has been a long road to recovery, but one he is not far from the end of.
