What Jack Grealish did after Aston Villa win vs Man City after Pep Guardiola instruction
by Mark Wakefield, https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/authors/mark-wakefield/ · Birmingham LiveJack Grealish was on the losing side on his first return to Villa Park as Aston Villa recorded an impressive win over Premier League champions Manchester City.
Villa claimed a 2-1 victory over Man City in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off in the Premier League thanks to goals from Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers. The win moved Villa up to fifth place in the league table and one point above City in the process.
Grealish played the full 90 minutes for City against his former club, where he failed to get a goal or assist in the win for Unai Emery's team. The former Villa star also received a yellow card in the closing stages before Phil Foden scored a consolation goal for the visitors.
With Villa celebrating the win, Grealish and his teammates were reeling from yet another defeat for City. Pep Guardiola's side have now lost nine of their last 12 matches in all competitions, winning just once, and are nine points adrift of leaders Liverpool who have two games in hand.

The Manchester Evening News reports that, after the full-time whistle, Grealish was joined by Foden in going over to the travelling City fans in the away end at Villa Park, after Guardiola had encouraged his players to do so. The Villa academy graduate could be seen giving his shirt to a fan as he thanked the supporters for their backing on a disappointing afternoon for the club.
Villa will now look ahead to Boxing Day for their next Premier League match when they travel to St James' Park to face Newcastle United. After that, Emery and Co. will host Brighton on December 30 in their final match of the calendar year and before the January transfer window officially opens.
