Unai Emery has confirmed Jacob Ramsey and Leon Bailey are both doubts to feature for Aston Villa against Manchester United on Sunday, but is hopeful Amadou Onana will be available for selection.

The Belgian international picked up an injury in the first half of Villa's Champions League win over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night. He was able to continue until the hour mark when he was then replaced by Ross Barkley.

Ramsey suffered a groin injury on the night and was replaced in the 27th minute by Bailey, who himself wasn't fully fit. He had been named among the substitutes for Villa's clash against Bayern as Jaden Philogene was given his first start.

"Both are now doubts," Emery said about Ramsey and Bailey in his press conference. "I don’t know if they will be available on Sunday. They are so, so tight if they are available. Tomorrow we are going to train, but today they are doubtful."

Asked about Onana, Emery said: "He is a doubt, but I think he will be available because it is not a really serious injury. But playing matches during the week and on the weekends, we have to be clinical in our decisions for the next match.

"Even like last year when we played in the (Europa) Conference, I have to identify as well if I can do some changes getting better moments for other players who are ready to play."

Villa were handed a fitness boost earlier this week as Matty Cash returned to full training and made the matchday squad against Bayern five-and-a-half weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in the home defeat to Arsenal. He wasn't able to feature, but could play his first competitive minutes this weekend.

Emery's side will look to return to winning ways in the league this Sunday after being held to a 2-2 draw by Ipswich Town last weekend. Villa have however won just one of their last 25 Premier League home games against United, with that victory coming in Emery’s first game in charge of the club.

Erik ten Hag is under huge pressure coming into the game after United have only won two of their first six league games and salvaged a draw against Porto on Thursday night as Harry Maguire scored a 93rd minute equaliser.
