Cardoso: That is my attitude towards life

by · KickOff

The two silverware opportunities now on offer for Miguel Cardoso to pursue in his first full season at Mamelodi Sundowns will put the Portuguese on the grand stage.

Sundowns are pursuing their ninth consecutive Betway Premiership title, for which they have a strong challenge from Orlando Pirates with a third of the season to play.

Then, for the priority trophy – the CAF Champions League – they have one foot in the semi-finals as they seek to reach another final again this season and make it count by lifting the trophy.

Should Cardoso win the Champions League, then the wave of doubts that have accompanied his stay at Chloorkop will belong in the drain.

"…You know that from last year up to now, I have two friends that already died," notes Cardoso.

"Now, look, what I mean is that the challenges and objectives that we have are not untouchable; you cannot achieve good things if you don’t aim high.

"You need to dream high if you want to arrive somewhere … you need to aim very high so that even if you don’t get there, at least you get very close.

"Obviously, that is my attitude towards life, but I know that this is a process, and despite the focus, there are stages.

"What we need to focus on are the stages because if you make the stages, you will get there.

"Last year, we accepted everything as a natural thing.

"This year, we need to do it the same way.

"It should not be seen as a never-ending story but a story with different chapters, and we need to read each chapter if we want to arrive at the end of the book.

"That is what we have to do," says Cardoso.
