The story

South Africa jetted off for Morocco on Wednesday, fresh off a 1-0 victory over Ghana in a warm-up encounter on Tuesday. Orlando Pirates star Sipho Mbule scored the decisive goal to seal the win.

Bafana have been drawn in Group B, where they will face Egypt, Zimbabwe's Warriors, and Angola. Their campaign kicks off on Monday with an opening clash against the Palancas Negras.

Following a string of consistent performances under head coach Hugo Broos, Bafana have been tipped by many as potential title contenders, alongside strong sides such as Morocco and Senegal.

The Belgian tactician and his troops will be based in Marrakech throughout their preparations, with the aim of improving on their third-place finish at the previous edition of the tournament.

"Bafana Bafana have landed in Marrakech, Morocco, ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in the coming days," reads the team's statement.

"It was a long journey from Johannesburg, but we are here now and raring to go."
