PSL leading scorer Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya’s agent has spoken out about the Zimbabwean striker's lightning start to the 2026/27 season which has ignited transfer talk.

Ngwenya is into his second season at AmaZulu and has started it with such lightning scoring pace that he already has eight goals in six matches across all competitions.

He has earned a justified call to Zimbabwe’s senior national team.

Getting into double figures appears certain to be achieved in the next two games against Marumo Gallants and Polokwane City.

As is always the trend, the usual speculation has found wheels with a wave of behind-the-scenes activity.

"It is important that we allow the boy to focus on the job at hand with the club that he is contracted to," says Gibson Mahachi, his representative.

“Once there is a tangible deal on the table we will go through the appropriate process as he is contracted to AmaZulu.

“He is enjoying his game, and I think that is what he needs to continue doing.

“It is only six matches into the season, so he needs to play more games and score more goals," says Mahachi.

Ngwenya is only into his second season with Usuthu after crossing the Limpopo River from FC Platinum where he worked under Mapeza.

"He went through Mapeza’s hands and knowing how demanding a coach he is then that should give you an idea of the influence he had on then boy.

"Thando came through from FC Platinum’s development and went straight to the hands of Mapeza who then did what he had to do.

"What I have to make note of is that he is from a principled family and it shows in how he carries himself," says Ngwenya.
