Downs legend: Remo Stars are champions of a weak league
by Sipho Mlotha · KickOffIf high praise is what Mamelodi Sundowns were expecting after thrashing Remo Stars 5-1 in the CAF Champions League last weekend, then a club legend has chosen a different route, with a warning issued.
Sundowns will host Nigerian champions Remo Stars in the return leg of the Champions League second preliminary round at Loftus Versfeld on Sunday, with only a miracle can see the visitors overturn the huge deficit.

"I didn't even celebrate the 5-1 win in the first leg. These are weak teams," says Joel ‘Fire’ Masilela, speaking to KickOff.com.
"The Nigerian league is no longer competitive. Even their national team has become mediocre. It's clear they are struggling.
"It’s not the strong, competitive Nigerian league we once knew. Remo Stars may be champions, but it's champions of a weak league. If you compare it to our Betway Premiership, you will see a big difference,” added the former flying winger for The Brazilians.

Masilela holds the view that the Nigerian league is even weaker than than the Tanzanian league.
“So, we shouldn't read too much into how Sundowns perform against Remo Stars.
"Look at the Nigerian national team, it's no longer a team that strikes fear."
Kick-off is at 15:30.
