In pictures: north London’s Newington Green, one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world

It’s official: Newington Green is London’s coolest neighbourhood in 2026. Time Out’s latest ranking of the world’s trendiest places to eat, drink and hang out has landed, with the north London area – which is sandwiched between Islington and Hackney – placing 33rd overall.

And who can deny that Newington Green is having a moment? Home to critically-adored restaurants like the Golden Tooth and Bar Etna, top drinking spots the Army & Navy and Cadet, the hyper-trendy likes of Stella’s and Jolene, as well as long-established institutions such as the Mildmay Club and Newington Green Meeting House, N16 (as well as bits of N1 and N5) is one of London’s most happening spots right now.
