Another four victims of Switzerland bus crash back home; Ten still in hospital

Another four people involved in the Dutch tour bus crash in Switzerland last week returned to the Netherlands on Sunday. Ten people were still in the hospital on Sunday evening, the emergency assistance center Eurocross reported.

Fewer people returned home on Sunday than expected. “Various circumstances can ultimately delay repatriation,” Eurocross said. “These could be practical or medical reasons, for example.”

Thirteen victims returned to the Netherlands on Saturday. Eurocross expects another 12 people to make the return journey on Monday and has scheduled repatriation for another three people on Tuesday.

Ten people were still in the hospital on Sunday evening. “The aim is to provide them, too, with clarity as soon as possible regarding when they can travel back to the Netherlands,” Eurocross said.

The Dutch tour bus crashed between the villages of Zernes and Susch in eastern Switzerland on Thursday afternoon. Five people died: four women and one man, all over the age of 70. Forty people were hurt, including three with critical injuries.
