John Eustace responds as former Arsenal man returns to Derby County 'family'
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveJohn Eustace says Derby County will be able to draw on Steve Round's "vast experience and knowledge" after his return to the club's coaching staff.
Round has joined the club on a part-time basis until the end of the season after previously serving the Rams as a player and as assistant to Steve McClaren.
The 54-year-old has an excellent reputation having previously been on the England staff while he was also assistant to David Moyes at Manchester United, Sam Allardyce at Newcastle and Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.
He was also director of football at Aston Villa, and Eustace said: "Roundy is a friend of mine that I know very well. He has got a great CV. I felt he could come in and help the group and be there or thereabouts just to look after everyone.
"We can visit his vast experience and knowledge and hopefully he can help from now until the end of the season.
"He is part of the Derby family. He knows what it's all about here. He's been very successful and it can only be a real positive addition to the group."
Round's arrival comes after previous first-team coach Matt Hamshaw and goalkeeping coach Andy Warrington decided to leave their roles at Pride Park.
Paul Clements has been appointed as Warrington's replacement until the end of the season having previously worked at Stoke City, Norwich City and Huddersfield Town.
Eustace feels Clements' experience will be invaluable from now until the end of the campaign.
"Paul has come in and is a really experienced goalkeeping coach," he said. "He has been promoted out of the league a couple of times and worked with some fantastic managers. His experience will come in and help on that side."
