Every player out of contract at Derby County this summer as Rams set for overhaul

by · Derbyshire Live

Derby County secured their Championship status at the weekend as John Eustace led the club to survival with a goalless draw against Stoke City.

In what has been a remarkable turnaround in form, the Rams finished 19th in the table, a point clear of the relegation zone with Luton Town joining Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle in going down to League One.

Derby had been seven points adrift of safety back in March but two defeats in their 11 games was enough to fire them out of trouble and retain their second-tier status.

With the mission accomplished, Derby will now have to prepare for next season and the most immediate focus is the retained list with 11 players currently out of contract.

Here DerbyshireLive brings you the full rundown of which players' deals are now coming to an end.

Liam Thompson

The academy graduate has really come into his own in recent weeks and like Wilson has played an important role in the centre of midfield.

His tenacity and his aggression have been important in Derby's fight against the drop. Might have done enough to convince Derby to hand him another deal.

Craig Forsyth

The long-serving Scot has proven to be a reliable performer when called upon and has been superb in the second half of the season.

Can play left-back or as a left-sided centre-back. Tremendous professional who has been an outstanding servant for Derby in a career that has spanned 12 years at Pride Park.

His experience adds so much to the cause.

Rohan Luthra

The third-choice goalkeeper has not made an appearance for Derby at all this season and was brought to the club as back-up for Josh Vickers and current number on Jacob Widell Zetterstrom. His deal expires at the end of the campaign.

Conor Washington

The striker did not kick a ball in the Championship this season and was not helped by injuries. Looks destined to be heading out of the exit door.

Has made just 22 appearances since signing for the club in the summer of 2023. Is out of contract in the summer.

Tom Barkhuizen

The winger scored eight goals for Derby in League One last season as the club went on to secure its first promotion in 17 years, but has struggled to nail down a place in the Championship this season.

Sonny Bradley

The centre-back left the club in the January window to join Wycombe Wanderers on loan until the end of the season to help aid their fight to win promotion to the Championship.

Matt Clarke

Derby snapped up Clarke on a short-term deal until the end of the campaign in a bid to help their relegation fight. Has slotted straight into the team and alongside Nat Phillips and Sondre Langas has been an important component of a defence that has been a key reason as to why Derby stayed in the Championship.

Tyrese Fornah

Has been out on loan at Salford City where he has been a key performer under Karl Robinson with the League Two club hoping to push for promotion. His contract at Derby expires this summer.

Jeff Hendrick

The midfielder put pen to paper on a short-term deal as a free agent, but picked up a calf injury in the last couple of weeks.

Kemar Roofe

Managed to come off the bench a couple of times although a hamstring injury proved a nuisance which kept him sidelined for a few weeks.

Erik Pieters

The former Stoke City full-back managed to come off the bench for his first appearance against his old club. Like Roofe and Hendrick was brought in for cover.
