Derby County suffer fresh injury blow just four minutes into Preston North End clash
by Joseph Chapman · Derbyshire LiveRyan Nyambe was forced off within just four minutes of Derby County's Championship clash with Preston North End at Pride Park on Wednesday evening. Nyambe had only just been summoned back into the starting XI by John Eustace, as the only change from the side who beat Plymouth Argyle 3-2 before the international break.
Right wing-back Nyambe has missed large chunks of this season with a ligament injury which sidelined him between October and January, and he has had hamstring issues to overcome more recently.
Nyambe's most recent appearance, before this, was in the win over Coventry City almost a month ago, but within four minutes he was being forced off against Preston and replaced by Kane Wilson, whose place he'd taken in Eustace's starting XI.
Nyambe was looking to help a half-clearance from Preston back into their danger zone following a Rams corner, but he got his attempt wrong and ended up allowing North End forward Milutin Osmajic an opportunity to carry the ball from the halfway line and race into the Derby penalty area.
His shot, thankfully, was safely held by goalkeeper Jacob Widell Zetterstrom in the Rams goal, but it was eventually clear that Nyambe was in no state to continue having over stretched in the previous action.
We will get an update on Nyambe's wellbeing following the game from boss Eustace. In the meantime, you can follow regular updates from tonight's game HERE.
