Last-ditch Patrick Agyemang attempt made amid agent transfer claim
by James Pallatt · Derbyshire LiveCharlotte FC boss Dean Smith has spoken out as Derby County close in on Patrick Agyemang.
Smith has made it clear he thinks the 24-year-old is making the wrong move as he suggested it is a deal being pushed by his representatives.
“I’ve had the conversation with Patrick and, you know, my answer was I don’t think he should,” he said.
“I want him to stay here, but it’s up to the player to make that decision and as long as he’s making the decision and not his representatives, because I did remind Patrick that agents work for you, not the other way round.”

“The fact that we haven’t been able to agree a new contract with Patrick and his representatives has always indicated that this was likely to happen, whether it was in this window or at the end of the season,” he added.
“I do feel that this is probably being pushed by his representatives more than the actual player.”
“It’s always money,” he continued. “I thought that the club made fair offers and there was a number of offers in January and I spoke to Patrick about where I thought he should be and what he should do.
“But his representatives had a totally different idea which was out of the ballpark for this football club.”
Agyemang is set to become Derby's fifth summer signing. They have already paid an undisclosed fee for Luton striker Carlton Morris while Andi Weimann, Danny Batth and Richard O'Donnell have all arrived on free transfers.
