Chris Eubank Jr rushed to hospital after brutal Conor Benn win as ambulance is called

Chris Eubank Jr was immediately hospitalised after his intense victory against Conor Benn, culminating a heavyweight clash that saw the progeny of two boxing legends go head-to-head in front of a massive crowd of 67,000 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Despite securing the win with all three judges ruling in his favour, Eubank Jr required prompt medical attention.

The fight's build-up saw Eubank Jr grapple with weight issues; he even had to weigh in again on the day of the bout. Following the recommendation of an on-site doctor, BOXXER – the 35 year old fighter's promotion team – announced via an official tweet: "On recommendation of the onsite doctor, Chris Eubank Jr has been taken to hospital by ambulance for precautionary checks."

Post-fight, Eubank Jr showed signs of the brutal exchange, sporting a significant cut above his right eye and evident facial damage, leading Benn to speculate about his opponent's injuries. Benn stated: "I wish him well. I know he's gone to the hospital, I have heard he's got a broken jaw do I wish him a speedy recovery."

Despite the toll taken by the match, Eubank Jr acknowledged the challenge Benn presented and the motivation of their shared heritage. Before exiting the ring, he declared: "I knew I was capable of that. I just needed someone to bring it out of me. "I didn't expect Conor to be the guy to do that.

I didn't know he had that in him, I thought I would break him early. I underestimated him, I didn't prepare for a fight like that, reports the Mirror.

"The fact our fathers fought years ago brought out a different spirit and I am happy to have my father with me. He needed to be here. All this is because of him. We upheld the family name - onwards and upwards."

Benn, appearing dejected as he received comfort from his father, showed sportsmanship in the aftermath of the bout. "Maybe 14 months out of the ring didn't help, so inactivity is the only thing. I'm not going to say I deserved to win it, I have to watch it back," he shared.

"Maybe I stayed on the ropes a bit too long. Chris is a good fighter. All the fighting talk is fighting talk. I'd love the rematch."

Eubank Jr faces a substantial financial penalty of £375,000 due to failing to make weight for his highly anticipated clash with Benn. The British boxer weighed 160.2lb on his initial weigh-in and 160.05lb on his second attempt, exceeding the middleweight limit.

Benn came in comfortably under the 160lb threshold at 156.4lb.

Nonetheless, 'Next Gen' managed to avoid another penalty on Saturday morning, clocking in at 169.4lbs, while Benn also tipped the scales safely at 165lb. A rehydration clause had been established, which barred both fighters from exceeding 170lb on the morning of the clash.

Amidst all the pre-fight theatrics, there were no hitches during the weigh-in on Saturday morning, at last clearing both fighters for the confrontation in the ring. On what was arguably the most emblematic episode of the night, Chris Eubank Sr, himself an erstwhile world champion, was present.

Initially castigating his son Chris Jr's decision to accept a fight with Benn, he made an eleventh-hour reversal by turning up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. When footage of him alighting from his car appeared on the large screen amid the preliminary bouts, cheers resonated through the audience.

The fight was a spectacle from start to finish. Benn came out swinging from the first bell, clearly aiming to rattle Eubank Jr - but it was Eubank who landed the more precise blows in the initial three minutes.

As the rounds progressed, Benn's explosive style seemed to take 'Next Gen' by surprise as he successfully launched and pursued his opponent with some powerful hits.

However, as the fight moved into its latter stages, Benn's speed and agility had noticeably diminished. Despite landing some successful body shots, it was Eubank Jr who upped the aggression and took firm control of the match.

With Eubank Jr threatening to dominate, Benn knew he had to respond.

But a comeback wasn't on the cards for Benn. In the second-to-last round, Eubank Jr had him pinned against the ropes but couldn't capitalise on his advantage.

The final round saw both fighters let loose, but Benn failed to land a knockout punch - leaving Eubank Jr to claim victory on points in what was a memorable night for boxing.
