Blackburn Rovers branded a 'shambles' as Derby County double transfer sparks anger
by Leigh Curtis · Derbyshire LiveDerby County's impressive start to the transfer window continued yesterday after the club made three signings for next season's Championship campaign.
They were then followed by the arrival of experienced goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell, who joined after leaving Blackpool following a two-year spell.
Those three additions follow Carlton Morris' move from Luton last week when Derby paid an undisclosed fee for the striker's services.
The arrivals of Batth and Weimann represent solid business from Derby as they look to add strength in depth to the squad that was lacking last term.
And judging by the response of Blackburn fans, Derby have banked themselves two players who could play a vital role next season.
Here's how Rovers fans reacted after their club confirmed their departure with a post on social media platform X last night.
Left foot poet: "We are a shambles, where is Rudy and his promised communication?"
Andrew Morrison: "Madness not sorting a deal out for Batth especially on a year deal, such a dopey decision."
Rob Palmer: "Danny Batth was a rock at the back, and Andi contributed well to the goal tally despite his injuries. They both deserved better farewells."
Maurice Foy: "Two of our best players lost, hope we can replace them."
Thomas Evans: "So we didn't re-sign Danny Batth because we were unwilling to hand him a 2 year deal. He then sighs for Derby on a 1 year deal taking his mate with him. Rovers are such a shambles it is beyond embarrassing."
Andy: "And who could blame them? Superb seasons for both, but let’s face it, Rovers under Venkys and Pasha are a sinking ship."
Daniel Cooper: "We were given the direct impression that Batth and Weimann wanted to stay but we wouldn’t offer the right length of contract etc. Just signed a one-year deal at Derby. So, what is the truth?"
Barnes: "Both played a big part in getting us where we were last season, our defence was terrible without Batth and Andi scored some big goals to keep us in the hunt. We're stupid not to keep them on for a year, since we've kept AF (Adam Forshaw). Experience in every area of the park would have been good."
