John Eustace issues Derby County injury update as trio set to miss Preston clash

by · Derbyshire Live

Owen Beck is back in training with Derby County but head coach John Eustace says he will not rush the on-loan Liverpool defender into a return.

Beck is yet to make his bow for Derby after struggling with a calf injury that he picked up during pre-season.

But the left-back is now back involved with the rest of the group as Derby prepare to welcome Preston North End to Pride Park at the weekend.

Eustace though is remaining cautious with the full-back in terms of getting him up to match fitness and the likelihood is that he will be involved in a B-team friendly.

"Becky's training with us now and he's been training fully with us for the last week.

"But we're not going to rush him at the moment because we can't afford anything to happen to him.

"He's making great progress, and hopefully he might get some minutes next week in a bounce (B-team) game."

Derby also has to contend with Rhian Brewster's injury, who will be absent from the weekend after tweaking his groin ahead of the game against West Brom.

Centre-back Sondre Langas is also on his way back from knee surgery and is not too far away. Eustace said that Corey Blackett-Taylor is also stepping up his comeback after picking up a hamstring injury against Stoke City on the opening day. He is expected to join Langas and Beck in missing Saturday's game.

"Corey is still working very hard with the rehab team," he said.

"He might be a couple of weeks away from possibly joining back in with the group, which will be great."
