John Eustace issues Derby County verdict after 'emotional' week ends in thrilling Plymouth win

by · Derbyshire Live

John Eustace paid tribute to his "amazing" Derby County after the secured their third successive win of the week with victory at Plymouth Argyle.

A dramatic late goal from Marcus Harness sealed a 3-2 win for Derby that keeps them firmly in the hunt for Championship survival.

Derby still remain a point off safety but they have built some momentum at exactly the right time of the campaign with the spirit on show at Home Park particularly impressive.

Harness had given them an early lead with a strike from close range before a superb strike from Harrison Armstrong made it 2-0.

Plymouth hit back through a Mustapha Bundu free-kick and an own goal from Nat Phillips straight after half-time.

But Harness wrapped up the win having been teed up by Callum Elder which sealed only Derby's second away win of the season.

"I am very proud of their effort," said Eustace. "I thought we started the game really well. We were in control but then we spoke at half-time that Kane put a needless foul on the edge of the box and it's given them a lifeline.

"It was a fantastic free-kick. The way we started the second half wasn't good enough. We were always going to be under pressure here as they are a good team especially at home.

"But the character the group showed again and to go and score in the last minute was really pleasing.

"Full credit to the boys. They were amazing. It's been a very difficult week, an emotional week and to get three wins is really good."
